Pilgrims worst sufferers of recent electricity cuts at Katra : Hotel Association

President Hotel & Restaurant Association,Katra & Federation of Hotels,Restaurants,Industry & Commerce of Jammu Region Rakesh Wazir talked to Managing Director Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd.(JPDCL) Shiv Anant Tayal & Chief Engineer JPDCL Sandeep Seth and apprised him that Katra Vaishnodevi is the show case of Jammu & Kashmir to whole India and abroad also and positive or negative of Katra gives a message of J&K to whole India and abroad in the same way and is the main source of economy & Tourism for whole Union Territory and that is the only reason that Katra Vaishnodevi never ever had any curtailment of Power from last so many years so that pilgrims coming from every nook and corner of India may not suffer but just recently from last 3-4 days we are seeing that total curtailment is being imposed at Katra Vaishnodevi ji also and as a result total Katra is facing huge electricity crisis and pilgrims whether they are at Guest Houses,Sarais (Inns),Hotels,Dhabas,Waiting places,Restaurants or on roads are facing huge inconvenience and if this problem is not tackled immediately it will effect the Tourism and pigrims traffic in particular vigorously.

It is worth while to mention here that after Covid crisis which exists for more than two years,this time the yatra had just resumed and pilgrims have started coming to Vaishnodevi ji once again and if this crisis will continue it will effect the yatra in a big way and immediate redressel of the same is the need of hour.

Mr.Wazir even emphasised that even otherwise this power crisis is giving bad name to J&K because on one hand we are attracting huge investment in J&K through new Industrial Development Scheme and if on the other hand if this power crisis will continue it effect that investment also.

Both Tayal & Mr.Seth listened each and every point raised by Mr.Wazir very patiently and assured that every effort would be made to overcome this crisis and remove the Power Cuts from Katra shortly.
